Osram promoted Black TopLED Series with black package, small size and high brightness
introduced a new series TopLED black LED with lens, not only the first black package TopLED products, also the luminous intensity can reach 1.9 cd (current 20 mA), Besides the brightness are same with white LED package, it also can improve contrast and reduce reflection. Red and Yellow LEDs mainly used for displays, such as the fuel price displays or traffic passenger information system displays.

The new black TopLED with lens can show high-contrast, clear and easy to interpret in any lighting conditions. Black package is good for minimize reflection of emitting light, when the display mounted by the black encapsulated LEDs, even in strong sunlight, the display is still clear and eye-catching, high contrast ratio, and can be easily interpreted in long distance.
This LED with the best design for display applications , light-emitting angle is 60 °, the with concentrated light, those are good for viewing. So this LED is sufficient to replace the traditional DIP LED. Currently, This black package LED is the only black package LED that can comparable in intensity with white package LED.
Initially, TopLED Black Series will launch two versions of red and yellow, with thin-film chips, to ensure high luminous efficiency. Thin-film LED also known as "surface-emitting" LED, it can emitted the vast majority of the light emission by its surface.
This TopLED is surface-mount LED technology (SMT) components, suitable for automated processing, therefore the cost of manufacturing displays are lower than pin-style LED displays.
